The Midwinter event February 18 at Bell Memorial United Methodist Church was inspirational. Women from all over the Cal-Pac District met to learn about five important missions in our district. The keynote speakers were dynamic in their explanations of the programs in action at Toberman House in San Pedro, New Entra Casa in San Diego, Neighborhood House in Calexico, Metro Outreach Ministry in San Diego, and David and Margaret Family Services in La Mirada. Each of these services has a website. Look for more detailed information there. The networking among the women in attendance in the new sanctuary as we broke bread together, relaxed in the sunshine, and shared our faith stories is something I'll never forget. I met a woman from Mississippi who was a new Christian and had never worshiped with white women before women from Long Beach "adopted" her. The road trip home to Encinitas was memorable, too, as we shared our thoughts and feelings. Join us next time to learn about these programs of service and get excited.
